Silicon Valley Program 2013
Every year we take our 10 startups to Silicon Valley to meet investors and learn from the best. Our San Francisco program is an integral part of the Rockstart Accelerator six-month program.
Build in Amsterdam, pitch on US road trip
After going through 100 hectic days of learning, producing, iterating, launching their products, and pitching to investors at Demo Day, our 10 startup follow an equally intense Summer program which will prepare them for a September in Silicon Valley full of pitching to VCs, co-working with top-class entrepreneurs and meeting with potential clients and partners.
Our San Francisco program focuses on the following elements:
– Increase startups investment and partnership opportunities by setting foot to a more open, risk-friendly and of course robust market such as the US one.
– Establish valuable connections with co-entrepreneurs, specialists, clients, investors and key press people.
– Learn from the best by visiting some the most up-and-coming startups, as well as some of the leading tech companies.
– Understand and learn how to operate within the high-paced US&Silicon Valley business culture.
Get immersed in the Silicon Valley culture
In September 2013, the CEOs of the Rockstart Accelerator startups will fly to San Francisco and spend the whole month in Silicon Valley to take the first steps of entering the US market. At several events organized in the Valley, the teams will meet VCs, Angels and serial entrepreneurs to gain interest for Seed or Round A investments, establish partnerships, or acquire large customers. The US mentors will help the startups with introductions, understanding and getting the most out of the Silicon Valley “code” and fast paced meeting culture and prepare them for meeting with US VCs.
Work from the top co-working space in Silicon Valley
For the whole month, our startups will have office space at RocketSpace, the place where most VC funded startups have their office. During our stay, the Rockstart teams will visit several of the Valley’s success stories, such as Podio, Google, Mozilla, and WebFWD. There will also be pitching events held at RocketSpace where the startup will pitch to angel investors,VCs, and serial entrepreneurs.
Extended program with new workshops and program elements
Understanding the positive impact the San Francisco program has on our startups, we have decided to extend and enrich their San Francisco program. We have increased the length of the program to one month and added several new US mentors and pitching workshops by Ariel Poler’s: Best of Angel and workshops on how to acquire VC funding by Stephanie Palmeri from SoftTechVC.
Some of the new mentors that have committed themselves to the program include:
Guillaume Decugis, CEO and Co-founder at Scoop.it, previously sold Musiva for $120 million.
Ariel Poler, founder of IPRO, Topic and angel investor in companies like Admob, Slideshare and Mashery.
Kasper Hulthin, Co-founder at Podio, acquired by Citrix in 2011
Stephanie Palmeri, Principal at SoftTechVC
Torsten Kolind, CTO and Co-founder Younoodle
