We support and empower the greatest AgriFood tech startups to drive positive change in the food supply system. Rockstart AgriFood supports agritech and foodtech startups with acceleration, co-investing in participating startups up to Series B.
At Rockstart AgriFood, we view the Food supply system holistically, rather than as a segmented chain. Solutions to problems in our food supply system must address more than one phase of the chain. As supply chains get shorter, the need to consider the industry as a whole gets stronger. Therefore, Rockstart AgriFood will focus on solving problems in our food supply system, all the way from primary agriculture (Agri-tech) to consumption (Food-tech). Rockstart AgriFood supports solutions with large-scale impact in one of the following three challenges throughout the food supply system:
Our program runs for six months and is made up of four key phases, each of which has a specific focus designed to take you through the various stages of business development to make you investment-ready and prepare the team for global scaling. Throughout the program, Rockstart will organize frequent educational workshops as well as both large and intimate events, such as Demo Day and frequent investor dinners, to help link startups, investors and potential market partners. Startups can expect to receive daily support from the AgriFood Program Management team, in order to help startups in driving traction at this crucial time for their business.
We connect founders with the most relevant industry players and facilitate the process in order to drive partnerships and pilot customers for the startups in the AgriFood program.
We have brought together an impressive lineup of mentors, who bring expertise in AgriFood, data science, product and building businesses around technologies from scratch.
We give founders access to Rockstart's international community of alumni and provide access to state-of-the-art research know-how and talent.
Rockstart AgriFood will offer follow-on investments in participating startups up until Series B. We are matching and setting up events so startups can leverage Rockstart's network of more than 400 local and international investors.
We are supporting strong partners to help drive and support solutions to the problems set out above. Foodtrack by Maersk is an intensive one-month venture programme dedicated to solving one of the world’s most acute challenges—eliminating food loss. The programme gives early-stage Agritech startups, who have a focus on reducing food loss/waste, the opportunity for partnership and investment from Maersk.
Nestle wants to feed the world and create jobs for millions of young people. At Rockstart AgriFood, we care about the same things, so we teamed up to support their efforts! To tackle the challenges of youth unemployment and a reducing number of young people active in agriculture, Nestle is using its HENRi initiative to connect with startups. Through HENRi, Nestle aims to partner with promising entrepreneurs and startups to launch new digital solutions and services for farmers. By connecting the brightest ideas and innovation with Nestlè’s businesses, expertise, and market insights, the goal is to make the biggest impact possible.

Yes. Your investor(s) would probably like you to join a Program because they know what kind of support you can get by participating. Seed investors often spend a lot of time coaching the companies they invest in to increase their survival rate but cannot organize a mentor network or provide the expertise an accelerator can. Rockstart’s AgriFood Program will help you to bring your startup to the next level by teaching your team how to think through your business proposition, open doors that have been closed, help you with funding, marketing & PR and make sure you lay the foundation for growth – plus lots more. We tailor the program to meet the needs of the 10 selected startups.

For our 2019 AgriFood program we are looking for startups with a team that already runs a business and has traction. Ideally, the team not only consists of the co-founders, but has already hired its first employees. That’s why a team is necessary to apply for the AgriFood Program. During the selection period we focus on team dynamics and it’s a critical component of the selection process. You and your teammates should have complementary skills and positive team dynamics to be able to make your business work.
For our 2019 AgriFood Program we are looking for startups with a focus in one of three areas: Optimizing Process & Practices (solving problems in our food supply system, all the way from primary agriculture (Agri-tech) to consumption (Food-tech)), Stopping Food Waste and Loss (33% of what we produce is wasted – it is time to unlock this value and reduce CO2 emissions), Driving Sustainability and Transparency (improving cost and efficiency are no longer the only drivers for innovation).
We believe in the power of a great team. It’s important that you have a strong team in place with a track record, motivation and potential. We’re also looking for innovation. It doesn’t mean that you have to come up with a totally original idea, but your execution of that idea has to be unique. You have to be a running business that already has its first customers and traction. We’re looking to change the world with the startups we work with.
In order for us to help you get the most out of the program, we’re primarily looking for startups that have developed at least a MVP (Minimum Viable Product), have customers or users and some traction. If your idea is still on the back of a napkin at the moment, we suggest you go to the next Startup Weekend or Startup Next and test it out.
Rockstart’s AgriFood Program is based in the heart of the startup hub Copenhagen. Known for its entrepreneurial climate, open lifestyle, and central location, it is the place for any startup to grow internationally.
