Introducing the 2014 Smart Energy Finalists!
They’re finally here! The 2014 Smart Energy cohort has been finalized and are on their way to Amsterdam for Rockstart Accelerator’s first Smart Energy Accelerator Program. After going through over 130 applications from 39 different countries, check out our infographic, the top 10 startups will enter the doors of Herengracht 182 and into the Rockstart Accelerator family on January 15. After going through the application process and two informative selection days, all of their hard work and dedication paid off. With two distinct categories of startups in this program, Smart Energy and the intersection of IT, and sustainability, we’ve catered the program to fit the needs of these startups in the form of a diverse mentor network and Rockstart deals. The founders of the selected startups come from Ukraine, Greece, Chile, Netherlands, Israel, UK, Romania, France, Spain and Germany showing the global demand and desire for innovation in Smart Energy and sustainable business practices. We can’t wait to welcome them in Amsterdam!

CareToSave: smart metering meets gamification to teach kids how to save energy and helps reduce the household’s energy bill in a fun way
Dreamups: collaboration tools for clean tech development projects, providing validation and accountability, overcoming knowledge segmentation and lack of documentation for early stage hardware concepts
GiveO2: monitors and tracks trips using your mobile device, providing a better understanding of your environmental impact and incentives to change it
miniPower: facilitates the replacement and exploitation of used wind turbines, giving them a second profitable life
Power Tags: an easy and low-cost way to make smarter use of heating, air condition and lighting systems in commercial buildings, using occupants’ real-time location
QwikSense: provides organizations with actionable data on how you can easily create a healthy working environment and save energy at the same time
Reciclata: changes the way we recycle by removing the problems that cause people not to recycle by adding game mechanics and a rewards system.
Skeefer: makes energy intensive household appliances smarter and develops new ways of using and financing them
WeShareSolar: a crowdfunding platform for collective solar-energy initiatives, giving support by taking care of financing, contracting, administration and management
Woodstacker: providing modular and flexible building systems and services for sustainable, smart and healthy living that can be used in a variety of purposes
