Since its launch in 2014, the startup has quickly grown into the largest platform of its kind in Holland with 1.000 members who have already invested €900.000 into various projects. With the help of the community, 1100 solar panels were installed on the Euroborg stadium, and several other buildings have now been equipped with sun roofs as well. One of the projects that are currently open is “Solar Initiate”, a project launched by citizens of Breda who want to have 7.000 installed solar panels along the nearby A16 highway in Breda.
ifund and DOEN Foundation, who led the funding round, are supporting green and sustainable initiatives of ambitious entrepreneurs. With the current enormous growth of the market for solar panels, they see the necessity of the platform that connects local solar project developers to investors. WeShareSolar team is planning to use the money raised to grow and increase brand awareness among citizens and roof owners who are interested in green energy.
