Smart Energy Startups: Plug Into Europe’s Best-Connected Smart Energy Accelerator

Are you an entrepreneur building a business with an emphasis on microgrid autonomy, data intelligence & security or game changing business models?

Amsterdam – 4 January 2017 – Rockstart, the world’s greatest startup machine, announces Smart Energy applications open today for the 4th cohort of smart energy startups.  The program, which begins in April 2017 and lasts for 150 days, includes a combination of investment, expert workshops and personal meetings with 75+ international mentors and direct engagement with relevant suppliers, users, potential partners and other energy stakeholders, including the City of Amsterdam.

“This year Rockstart Smart Energy will target entrepreneurs and businesses who are emphasizing microgrid autonomy, data intelligence & security and game-changing business models. We’re looking for startups not just from within Europe, but also from emerging markets across Africa, Latin America and Asia,” says Freerk Bisschop, program director, Smart Energy.  “Tomorrow’s energy is decentralised, decarbonised and digital. That’s why we’re keen to invest in startups that allow local grids to run (semi)autonomously and connect prosumers, electric vehicles, storage and demand.  In addition, we’re focused on startups who make use of (big) data, learning algorithms and IoT connectivity or focus on energy cyber security!  Startups with the potential to change the energy marketplace or to boost the business models for energy efficiency & renewables.”
