Viking Bus journey to Le Web kick-starts today!
That’s it, Startup Bus Europe is on! 5 buses, 5 startup cities, more than 100 entrepreneurs. Buses from Berlin (Founders Bus), Paris, Madrid, Oxford and Copenhagen) hit the European highways to reach Le Web. The goal: build a startup on board in 3 days.
I am sitting in the Viking Bus which departed a few hours ago from Copenhagen. 19 programmers, designers and entrepreneurs from all across Europe and beyond will form teams on board, and work on their business ideas to build functional prototypes this weekend.
First stop is Aarhus, the second major city in Denmark. There, teams will work and pitch in front of the Startupcity audience which will be our host for the day. Later this afternoon we will head to Hamburg, where we will meet the Founders Bus from Berlin and who knows what that will bring! Saturday we are heading south. After some stops to talk and pitch to local entrepreneurs and just people on the street, we will be in Cologne in the afternoon to face the German teams for the Startup Bus Europe semi-finals hosted by Clusterhuis, one of the largest centres for start-ups in the German tech scene. The semi-finals is a public event, so make sure you join us at 4pm if you are in town. It’s going to be lots of fun.
Sunday, we will work in Cologne most of the day and in the evening will get in the bus to get to our final destination, Paris. Monday will bring another change to the teams that didn’t make it to the finals in Cologne through a wildcard competition, where the teams that did not go on from the semifinal can pitch again and win a seat to the final, which is held in the afternoon. In the final competition, teams that made it to the finals will pitch against each other and the winners will join the 16 finalists of Le Web global startup competition to pitch in front of entrepreneurs, and investors from all around the world. After the Monday finals we’ll have an epic closing party to celebrate our three-day crazy trip on the roads of Europe.
We will keep you updated with regular posts about the trip, the people, and all the Viking activities at the startup cities. There will be relevant posts also at www.trendsonline.dk and www.startupbus.com/blog.
But let’s not forget what will happen off-bus. We will stop at 4 hot startup cities on the road to Paris. The teams will meet startups and local entrepreneurs and get to know the culture and what’s up-and-coming in the local startup communities. All this will be live streamed here: www.streammyevent.nl/startupbus. More information will follow about the streaming schedule.
Don’t forget the Startup Bus Europe semifinals –Vikings vs Berliners– on Saturday at 4pm at Clusterhaus, Cologne.
